Designed and quilted by Marlene Brown Woodfield.
9″ wide by 11-3/4″ high. Original design, 2011.
Materials/techniques: Cotton and silk fabrics, pieced, machine appliqued and quilted, beads, signed, piped, fabrics and traditionally bound.
Artist’s statement: Gayle loves the color purple, but sometimes other colors invade her life. (Gayle looked forward to a rosy life in retirement, but Alzheimer’s invaded her mind.) This quilt was commissioned by Pat Hildebrand for her personal collection. She made a donation to AAQI instead of it being sold online.
Dedicated: In honor of Gayle Smriga, fellow quilter, wonderful teacher, mother and grandmother.
Raised for AAQI: See above.
