Over her many years of quilting, Marlene acquired a multitude of fabrics. She loved to go fabric shopping, especially in Shipshewana, Indiana. Marlene kept her fabrics organized by color with pieces large and small. When she made a new quilt, she was able to search through her collection and find the perfect fabric for a specific element.

She also used the fabric scraps to make cards to send to family and friends for birthdays and holidays. The cards were all original designs. In addition to fabric, she incorporated beautiful threads, yards, and felted pieces. In addition, some cards included ink sketches, and she made some lovely ones using alcohol ink. Recipients would look forward to her latest card creations and often saved them to look back on in future years.
