Marlene joined the First United Methodist Church, Michigan City, Indiana when she and Ted first moved to Michigan City in 1958. She has been a faithful Methodist and church member now for over 67 years. As her passion for quilting emerged, she found opportunities to make and donate a variety of quilts to the church. Two of her best friends and fellow quilters, Meredith Gulstrom and Katie Gielow, were also members of the church. Her quilts are still displayed at the church, and her most recent donation was in August 2025, in memory of her beloved husband Ted.
