“Dear Marlene, I was the successful bidder on your quilt, The Red Head. Please be assured that it has found a loving and appreciative home. I’m a quilter, and my husband is a great quilt admirer. I so appreciate the talent, skill and effort that went into this quilt. My favorite is the tree trunk. My son’s girlfriend, who is new to quilt admiring, was fascinated with the entire process , from felting to the machine quilting. My son thinks we shouldn’t hang it until it is “under glass.” I’m afraid that would hide the nuances in the leaves and tree trunk, and the felting of the woodpecker, but I’m thinking about it.

…. I started quilting about 13 years ago. My mom has been quilting since the Bicentennial. I make mostly wall quilts. I’m not very prolific, but I love reading and thinking and talking about quilts.

The Red Head will hang either in our living room or in my sewing space, which is part of our bedroom.

The Red Headed Woodpecker is our favorite bird, and that’s why I wanted to have this quilt. We’re tickled to have him pictured in such a wonderful work of art.
